The third round wrapped up and a couple more top 10 players fell.

1/1 Williams won her 27th straight match in thrashing Cirstea 60 62 and (5/5) Errani won surprisingly comfortably against big hitting Lisicki 60 64. (4/4) Radwanska avenged her sisters loss to qualifier Pfizenmaier 63 64, whilst (2/2) Sharapova survived a sticky match against Zheng 61 75; recovering from 1-4 down in the second set.
3/3 Azarenka had her first test against Strasbourg champion Cornet, hitting 10 double faults whilst coming from behind to win 46 63 61 and (8/8) Kerber got her first win in 5 against Lepchenko 64 67(3) 64.
However, (7/7) Kvitova wasn't so lucky, losing tamely to Hampton 61 76(7). Kvitova made too many unforced errors and relinquished a 4-2 second set lead and a subsequent set point in the breaker. (9/9) Stosur also lost surprisingly early, though the fact that it was to Jankovic makes it less shocking. Jankovic continues her run back towards the top of the game with a 36 63 64 win over the Aussie. Jankovic had won 6 of their previous 8 meetings, including a win in Stuttgart a few weeks ago, but had lost their only Grand Slam meeting back here in 2010. Jankovic made a meal of it though, initially leading 3-0 in the third before Stosur came back. So, two of last year's semi finalists have now left in one day!
