Serena, Sharapova & Azarenka remain on track!

The fourth round is now completed and a group of familiar faces have places in the quarter finals.

(Rank/Seed)

1/1 Williams won easily against (15/15) Vinci 61 63 for a 28th successive match win. However, Williams was often anxious and expected a lot from herself.

2/2 Sharapova overcame windy conditions to beat (17/17) Stephens 64 62.

3/3 Azarenka cruised from 3-3 to win 63 60 against 2010 champion Schiavone.

4/4 Radwanska reached her 1st quarter final here with a tougher than it looked 62 64 win over 2008 champion (14/14) Ivanovic; her 7th straight win over the Serb.

5/5 Errani came from 57 24 down to beat (20/20) Suarez Navarro 57 64 63, despite suffering from breathing difficulties in the first set.

8/8 Kerber couldn't emulate her recent win at Madrid over Kuznetsova, this time losing 64 46 63 to the 2009 champion, who reached back to back Grand Slam quarter finals for the first time since 2009! Kerber was ultimately outrallied, with Kuznetsova deliberately hitting at medium pace and controlling the points with spin.

Elsewhere, (12/12) Kirilenko looks set for the top 10 with a 75 64 win over Mattek Sands, recovering from 1-4 down in the first to reach her first French Open quarter final. Also, (18/18) Jankovic continued her impressive return to form with a crushing 60 62 win over Hampton to reach her first Grand Slam quarter final since here in 2010!
